Colubridae
California Kingsnake
(Lampropeltis Getula Californiae) 1.20m
DISTRIBUTION:
California and other surrounding states.
FOOD:
Carnivorous Usually found in grassland and forest edges
NOTES:
These can be very hardy creatures if their basic needs are met and under optimal conditions have an average lifespan of 15 years. King snakes are wholly or partially immune to the venom of rattlesnakes and will kill and eat them. This behaviour gives them a good reputation with humans in rural areas.
