DISTRIBUTION:
North Australia and Tasmania; introduced to New Zealand
NOTES:
This gregarious bird is often found in large dense flocks but is non territorial unlike the white swans and they usually nest close together in colonies on islands or edge of rivers and lakes. The black swan does have concealed, white primary and secondary wing feathers. This species is often found in ornamental wildfowl collections.
