S.A…. Canada (Ontario, Maine, southern Minnesota, throughout east and mid-west USA to Mexico, Gulf of Florida, Cuba, western Guatemala, introduced Britain and New Zealand.
NOTES:
It is very popular in avicultures and many are bred each year. It is quite hardy and can be kept outdoors throughout the year. A spacious aviary is needed to avoid them becoming disruptive to other aviary occupants as they will readily perch if frightened. They are reasonably long lived with a possible lifespan of eight years or more. It has a very clear whistle: bob-white or poor- bob-white.
