FOOD:
Feeds on ground eating mainly fruit and grain.
DISTRIBUTION:
India, Turkestan, Afghanistan, S.E. Iran, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma, Thailand and Indochina.
NOTES:
Even in the wild this bird is naturally found near areas of human habitation. It is a quite hardy animal once it has been acclimatized. It soon becomes tame and hasgood powers of mimicry. It hisses, whistles and chatters easily and can often be taught to whistle a short tune and even speak a few words. It will prove rather secretive during the breeding season and should be left alone as much as possible during this period.
