The numbers of this macaw have declined significantly. They are very affectionate birds who can easily be tamed and learn to talk and play easily. They love to be stroked and petted. Their distinctive flight is not like other macaws, this bird pitches up in flight, not in an adulatory manner, but in a peculiar jerky rearing manner.
