Seeds, rice and cultivated grain.
DISTRIBUTION:
Indonesia, introduced Malaysia, Borneo, St.Helena, Seychelles, Tanzania (Zanzibar area).
NOTES:
This is currently a very popular bird and several mutations have already been developed. Common in Java and Bali, they have been introduced into neighbouring Malaysia. These birds can become agricultural pests in cultivated rice fields. The birds are ideal aviary inhabitants if the aviary is fairly peaceful.
