PSITTACIDAE (Parrots)
PAINTED CONURE
(Pyrrhura Picta) - 22 cm
FOOD:
Fruits, nuts, seeds, berries, blossoms.
DISTRIBUTION:
Bolivia, Guianas, Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru.
NOTES:
This bird is generally common throughout much of its range, yet there is surprisingly little recorded information on its habits. They are almost always seen in pairs or trios and occasionally in flocks of twenty, and they usually remain high in the forest canopy. During the dry season these birds go to watercourses each day to bathe.
