FOOD:
Fruits, seeds, walnuts, peanuts, stone fruit seeds.
DISTRIBUTION:
Tip of cape York Peninsula (N. Australia), New Guinea, North Queensland and Aru islands.
NOTES:
Palm cockatoo is the largest parrot found in Australia. Although it is quite ferocious looking it is good natured, gentle, playful and easily tamed. It is an ancient species and not related to other cockatoos. This bird eats the fruit of the Pandanus palm, tearing through the outer covering with its powerful beak. A”his parrot is very rare due to unscrupulous collecting.
