FOOD:
Seeds, fruits, nuts, berries.
DISTRIBUTION:
North-western Brazil, Guyana, and south-east Venezuela.
NOTES:
This bird is quite expensive, but its stunning coloration and readiness to breed in aviary surroundings have since ensured that it is now available. These birds can be quite strident particularly at the outset of the breeding period. They have an overpowering voice and love gnawing on wood. At night these birds like to retire into a tree hole or a nesting box.
